

On March 11th, 2025, the Centre of Deaf Studies, in the School of Linguistic, Speech and Communication Sciences at Trinity College Dublin welcomed Dr Luigi Lerose.
Dr Lerose gave an interview on his work as a deaf academic focusing on signed languages, linguistics, teaching, and on his new book Improving your British Sign Language.

Dr Luigi Lerose is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Psychology and Humanities at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), England.
Dr Lerose is culturally Deaf and graduated from Alpen Adria University, Klagenfurt (Austria) in 2012 with a PhD in Philosophy (Linguistics) on Sign Language. He has served as the President/Chair of the European Network of Sign Language Teachers (ENSLT) for six years (2017-2023). Additionally, he serves as a Language Expert in Sign Languages at the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe (ECML) in teacher and learner competences. Dr Lerose was also an external examiner for the Bachelor of Deaf Studies programme at the Centre for Deaf Studies, School of Linguistic, Speech and Communication Sciences at Trinity College Dublin. His contributions to linguistic research, interpreting, and Sign Language teaching and learning are evident in his extensive publication record to which a new addition was recently added.
